11-9-2003 - Getting Dissed at the Post Office
Tonight I got dissed at the Post Office by a fat guy in bermuda shorts, black socks and some kind of slip on suede shoe.
The GirlChild (and no I've not killed her - yet - but it's been touch and go this weekend) and I mailed a care package to the RangerDoc. I meant to get one off by the 1st of the month but I've been so busy and tired that it just didn't happen. We sent some games, homemade soap, a puzzle, a calender, some candy, a book mark, some x-mas cards in case RangerDoc, or some of his guys, want to mail some out and some books. I sent two or three books I'd already read and I bought a few I didn't have copies of but had read so I knew they were good. We wrapped some of the stuff for Christmas gifts and left the other stuff to be used when it arrives. The GirlChild picked out, or suggested, most of the stuff so it is a well thought out care package. The one thing we forgot was another disposable camera. The GirlChild seems anxious to see the place where the RangerDoc is now.
Anyway, I was in line behind the bermuda shorts guy with this big box. The bermuda shorts guy was kind enough to let me put my heavy package on the counter while he conducted his business. But then he blew it by saying "you must have a son in the military." Seriously, do I REALLY look like a person who has a grown son in the military? And who did he think the GirlChild belonged to? First I get dissed by a toddler at the makeup counter at the mall and then I get dissed by badly dressed old guys at the post office. Whatever happened to the world were people didn't even talk to one another? He was making me long for that tonight.
As I said, it has been touch and go with the GirlChild this weekend. She has spent much of her weekend alone in her room for one infraction or another.
I'm reminder of O-Matic and the waif like children he has in his care. He always seems so mean. I wonder if he didn't have the right idea. If you stay on them all the time, they don't have time to get too high and mighty.
There hasn't been any television this weekend for the GirlChild. And all television privileges are suspended until further notice.
We didn't have any company this weekend and didn't get to make any calls or take any calls either. That's the status quo for awhile.
She stayed in her room a large part of the time. She was liberated for meals, to study for her social studies test or her spelling test, or to read aloud to me. She spent a lot of time reading or studying this weekend.
This afternoon we took her, the DearHusband and the BoyChild to get their hair cut. They all look cute.
It is peaceful here now. I'm waiting for the next big storm
